Songs for Israel

The Prophets and the Psalms are the sources for these scripture songs by singer-songwriter Mary Lynn Houtz. The theme is the prophecies for the return of all Israel to her God and to the land promised to her, intermixed with the rejoicing of the psalms. If you find yourself among those who were "lost" and are now finding their Hebraic roots, these may speak to your heart. You will soon "go forth with dancing with them that maketh merry" as you make your way to Zion!

Virgin of Israel Jeremiah 31:3-7 Listen

Shine Forth Psalm 80 Listen

He Will Bring Them Back Amos 9:9 Listen
Jeremiah 16:15-17, N.T. It is beautiful how prophecy is fulfilled so specifically. Jeremiah prophesies of fisherman to look for the lost Israelites and Messiah chooses men from that very occupation. We believe YHVH is faithful to His promises and look forward to the day when all the children of Israel are brought back to their own land.

Come and Shout Psalm 66 Listen

Return Jeremiah 3:12-14 Listen

Let Not the Wise Man Jeremiah 9:23-24 Listen

How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings Psalm 84 Listen

Tremble and Fear Daniel 6:26-27 Listen

You Have Brought Us Out Psalm 66:8-12 Listen

Israel, My Son Jeremiah 31:9-10, 15-17.
The setting of these verses is the Assyrian captivity of the Northern Kingdom, Israel. The grief of both a symbolic mother and the heavenly Father are expressed in this song. However, the most important aspect is the prophetic message of comfort that in the future Israel will be brought back to their own land.

This song is also the grief and comfort of my own story. It is dedicated to my firstborn son, Israel, who left this life two days after Purim 5760/March 2000.

The Lord Reigns Psalm 97 Listen
